Sabantuy is a Tatar national holiday. Its name can be roughly translated as ‘plough festival’. The Sabantuy celebrations feature a wrestling event among batyrs (strongmen), as well as a variety of fun competitions that provide an insight into customs and traditions of the Tatar people.
